A cleric and farmer in Bayaoje, near Ogbomoso in Oyo State, who asked not to be identified, has recounted how suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly stole his motorcycle while he was on his farm last Friday, Eclat Media Reports.
The victim said he was at the farm with his two young children when he noticed three men, believed to be herdsmen, attempting to move the motorcycle from where he had parked it.He said he confronted them, but they reportedly chased him with weapons, forcing him to flee for safety while they escaped with the motorcycle. He added that he was grateful that he and his children were not harmed during the incident.
After reaching the community centre, he alerted residents, who in turn contacted operatives of the Amotekun Corps. The security operatives reportedly responded swiftly and arrested the father of the suspects, said to be physically challenged, at a Fulani settlement in the area.
The case was later reported at the police station in the Favour area, under Zone 11, where officers confirmed the incident.
According to reports, the arrested man allegedly admitted that two of the suspects were his children and was directed to produce them on Monday.
Findings also showed that a similar attack reportedly took place in the area about two weeks earlier, when the motorcycle of the driver of the Iba Iyaoje was allegedly stolen by suspected herdsmen.
