Kidnappers Abduct Woman, Baby in Fresh Attack on Igbope Community
Residents of Igbope community in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State were thrown into panic late Tuesday night following a reported kidnapping attack by suspected gunmen.The attack, which reportedly occurred around 11:00 p.m., targeted a family in the community, said to be associated with the hometown of Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo.
According to sources in the area, the gunmen abducted a woman and her baby during the incident, while the husband managed to escape despite sustaining injuries.
Witnesses said the attackers invaded the area under cover of darkness before whisking away the victims to an unknown destination.
The injured husband was reportedly receiving medical attention as residents called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted mother and child.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not officially released a statement on the incident. The attack has further raised concerns over insecurity affecting rural communities in Oyo State.
