On Thursday, engineers from Craneburg Construction Company Ltd and the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transport arrived in Ogbomoso to begin preliminary inspection and assessment of the inner roads recently approved for rehabilitation by Governor Seyi Makinde. The governor had announced the reconstruction of 22 intra-city roads during his visit to the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, earlier in the week.
Makinde assured residents that work on the projects, to be handled by Craneburg and Kopek Construction Ltd, would commence within six weeks. While the announcement was welcomed with enthusiasm, some critics argued that the governor had taken over responsibilities meant for local government chairmen.
Despite this, signs of progress are already visible. The chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. George Ogunlade, confirmed in a Facebook post that engineers from Craneburg, alongside officials from the state Ministry of Public Works and Transport, visited the area for an initial road inspection.
In his words: “Kudos to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for the swift approval of this inner road project! Just two days later, we’re already witnessing concrete steps being taken.”
He added, “Today, we received engineers from Oyo Public Works and Transport as well as representatives of Craneburg Construction for a preliminary inspection.
This is a major milestone toward improving our infrastructure and boosting the quality of life in our community. We look forward to working on a detailed plan that will deliver safer and more accessible roads.
