President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a game-changing reward package for Nigeria’s most outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from 2020 to 2023. In a bold move at the NYSC Presidential Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja, the President ordered automatic federal civil service employment for 200 high-performing corps members, along with a ₦250,000 cash reward each. Represented by Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, President Tinubu also granted immediate employment for 10 physically challenged ex-corps members who were injured while serving. All honorees are to receive postgraduate scholarships in any Nigerian university.
“Your patriotism and integrity have earned you this national recognition. You are the future of Nigeria,” Tinubu declared.

NYSC Allowance Upgraded
Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande highlighted that the NYSC monthly allowance has also been increased from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to youth welfare and empowerment.

NYSC DG Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu honored four corps members who died during their service year, calling them “heroes of national unity.”
“You may no longer wear khaki, but you now wear something greater—the confidence of a nation,” he said to the honorees.
