Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has given approval for the reconstruction of 22 major roads in Ogbomoso, a move aimed at improving infrastructure, easing transportation, and boosting economic activities in the region. The governor announced that the project would officially commence in six weeks, with preparations already underway to ensure a smooth take-off.
The road reconstruction is expected to bring significant relief to residents and road users who have long endured the challenges of dilapidated roads in Ogbomoso. Poor road networks in the area have hindered the movement of goods and services, increased travel time, and worsened vehicle maintenance costs for motorists. With the governor’s approval, the roads will be redesigned and upgraded to modern standards, ensuring durability and improved accessibility.
According to government sources, the 22 selected roads cut across different parts of Ogbomoso and were chosen based on their economic importance, level of deterioration, and impact on daily life.
