Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, continues to surge in price across Nigeria, leaving many households struggling, according to findings by Eclat Media.
Recent market surveys show that prices have skyrocketed to as high as ₦3,200 per kilogram in some regions — a 100 percent jump from ₦1,600 recorded just three days earlier. Earlier reports had already noted a 33 percent rise in major cities, prompting families to cut down on usage.
Despite the resolution, LPG prices remain steep and vary by location. In Lagos, for instance, residents reported differing rates — ₦1,600 per kilogram in Orile, ₦2,000 in Ikorodu, and as high as ₦3,200 in Sabo Yaba.
Nationwide, the price of a 12.5kg cylinder now ranges between ₦16,500 and ₦18,000, up from about ₦12,750 just a week ago, according to market data and consumer accounts.
