Oba-Isin, the administrative headquarters of Isin Local Government Area in Kwara State, was thrown into chaos on Wednesday when suspected armed men invaded parts of the town, unleashing heavy gunfire that sent residents fleeing for safety.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as people ran indoors and businesses hurriedly shut down amid the sound of sporadic shots.Although the full extent of casualties is yet to be officially confirmed, early local reports indicate that a forest guard was killed during the attack, while his wife was reportedly abducted by the assailants. The incident has intensified fears across Kwara South, a region already grappling with rising cases of kidnapping and violent crimes.
The latest assault comes on the heels of heightened security concerns across the state, particularly following the tragic Woro–Nuku massacre in Kwara North earlier this month. Residents are now calling for stronger security presence and swift intervention from authorities to prevent further bloodshed and restore calm to the affected communities.
