Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly kidnapped two Chinese nationals in Kwara State.
According to SaharaReporters, sources said the two men were working at a BUA road construction site in the state when they were abducted.They were on duty along the Bode Saadu–Kaiama–Kosubosu road project last week when armed men stormed the site and forcefully took them away.
Sources told the media that the masked attackers moved in on December 1 and whisked the workers off the site.“Gunmen recently invaded the BUA road construction site along Bode Saadu/Kaiama Road. On December 1, 2025, between 11pm and 4am, they attacked the site which is located less than 2 kilometers away from the village of Bielesin/Fallah and close to another village called Olokiti,” a security source said.
“The gunmen fired sporadic gunshots for about 2 to 3 hours before abducting two Chinese Nationals working with the company. As at today, there is no information from the gunmen.
“No casualty was reported as well, except for these two Chinese Nationals who were taken away to an unknown destination.”The incident adds to the rising cases of kidnappings in the state. Earlier today, six farmers were reportedly abducted after gunmen attacked the Lata community in Patigi Local Government Area of the state.It was gathered that the armed men stormed the farmlands on Wednesday morning, whisking away the farmers who were working on their fields.“They came very early in the morning while the farmers were busy. They took all six of them into the bush, and up till now, there is no update about their whereabouts,” a source said.
Another resident recounted a separate attack on Tuesday, where bandits reportedly chased away labourers from a farm and snatched a seven-month-old Haojue motorcycle belonging to a local businessman.
The escalating violence has further entrenched fear across Kwara South and Kwara North, where communities say terrorists now operate freely.
