Sixteen prospective NYSC members have reportedly lost their lives, while two others were critically injured, in a tragic accident on their way to the Gombe orientation camp.
The incident happened on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, and the victims were said to be graduates of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo.They are part of the 2025 Batch C corps members posted to serve in Gombe State.
Eyewitnesses and posts on social media described how the 18-seater bus carrying the students was completely crushed, leaving only two survivors who are now in critical condition.
Friends, families, and members of the public have been expressing shock and sorrow online, sharing heartfelt tributes and photos of the deceased.
One user, @DukeofBourdilon, wrote: “My heart is heavy as I commiserate with the families of the NYSC prospective corps members from AFUED, Ondo, who were involved in this devastating accident. An 18-seater bus full of bright young Nigerians with hopes and dreams was reduced to silence in a moment. Nearly everyone on board died instantly, leaving only two survivors barely clinging to life.
“This wave of needless tragedy is becoming unbearable. It is high time the Federal Government intervened decisively to stem the relentless loss of innocent lives on our roads. This is truly heartbreaking—an indescribable loss for their families, their institution, and our nation.”
